Zebra

Zebra Class had a great start to the year and settled in happily to the Penthouse Suite upstairs in Rennies! We worked hard and adapted well to our new busy routine. The children were busy learning new mathematical concepts and developing our creative writing skills.
Halloween crept up quickly and we had a fantastic dress-up Friday where the children all agreed that the highlight of the day was dunking their teacher’s face in flour FIFTY-TWO times!!!!

We completed many projects this year including some on the Titanic, Irish Counties, Countries and projects of choice to finish out the year. We all taught each other some new interesting facts!
Christmas came around fast and we all worked hard on our Christmas show ‘Christmas Around the World’. We celebrated many different cultures from around the world and dressed in traditional outfits which was great fun. Who doesn’t love seeing grass skirts swaying and cute little kangaroos?!!
After Christmas it was straight back to preparation for First Confession and First Communion. We enjoyed learning our prayers and songs and talking about how special it is to receive the Sacrament of Communion.
We had our First Confession in March and everyone agreed it was a very special evening for the children and their parents under the guidance of Fr. James.
Next came First Holy Communion and the children were AMAZING. They all spoke at the pulpit and carried out special jobs on the day. We were so proud of our Holy Communion Class on that very special day!
As Summer approached we celebrated Friendship Week and Wellness Wednesday which was a great success. We were awarded our Amber Flag from Pieta House for our second year running. This is testament to the lovely respectful inclusive attitude between children and adults alike that we pride ourselves on here in Scoil Naomh Fionán.
We were treated to a fabulous Lego day from The Brickks Club. Kathy worked so well with the children and we had some spectacular creations! Many thanks to the Parents Association for funding this great day!
A very special thank you to Pádraig Ó Chonchuir, Dr. Siobhán Marron and Cathy Good who treated us to amazing presentations on Boston Scientific, Our Digestive System and The Good Dairy Company during the year. The children thoroughly enjoyed them! Special thanks also to Laura Hosford for bringing Penny the dog to visit us regularly and for organising our Bike to School initiative.
Our last highlight was a mighty trip to West Cork Secret where we enjoyed scaling through muddy obstacle courses and water slides. It was lovely way to top off a fantastic year!!!
