A Book Rental Scheme had been up and running successfully here at Scoil Naomh Fionán for many years with the help of a number of parents and staff who organise textbook rental for each class group before the return to school each year. This scheme was expanded in 2023 after Minister for Education Norma Foley, announced that all primary schools would supply free schoolbooks, workbooks and copies for pupils.

The Free School Books scheme eliminated the cost to parents of providing school books, workbooks and copybooks. Funding was provided directly to primary schools by the Department to implement the scheme. Our school provided the required books for the pupils at each class level. All schoolbooks remain the property of the school so that textbooks can be reused in future years. Schoolbooks are provided on loan to children for the duration of the school year and must be returned to school at the end of the school year. Pupils are asked to take care of their books and keep them in good condition during the year.
